Post 31 – Gum Disease

What is gum disease?

If your gums bleed when brushing and/or flossing, you may have beginning signs of gum disease or you may not. Your Dentist can properly make this diagnosis. If you are still wandering if you do or you don’t, below are some of the possible symptoms you may be experiencing that should be checked out by a Dentist:

1) Bad breath that is persistent and does not go away.

2) You noticed your gums are receding exposing more of the top of the teeth.

3) Gums that hurt and/or are swollen.

4) Your teeth are starting to move or feel loose due to bone loss in the jaw.

Some people discover they have gum disease at their regular Dentist check up! How is that? These people are the ones who have no obvious signs and, because they visit their Dentist on a regular basis, at least twice per year, they were diagnosed at its early stages.

No worries if the Dentist finds you have gum disease as it is a dental condition that can usually be reversed at its early stages to prevent any long term problems. How? By following a good dental hygiene routine at home and visiting your Dentist on a regular basis. We are happy to have you join our happy family of dental patients.
